Getting In The Spirit Of Things...
It’s wintertime in the Southern hemisphere, and the low season for Australian passenger vessels. Consequently many owners and operators take advantage of this period to do necessary repairs and maintenance. Staff from Lightning Naval Architecture recently attended the Spirit of Tasmania II when it docked at Thales Garden Island in Sydney this month. We worked on modifications to the crew accommodation, relocation of the medical dispensary and a lightweight survey at the conclusion of the docking.
LNA's Clients Listed As "Australia's Top Ferry Rides"
Two out of three of the top Australian ferries, as rated by Travel Ninemsm, are Lightning Naval Architecture clients. The Queenscliff ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff in Victoria is rated number one. The Spirit of Tasmania comes in at number three and David Whitely says: "...the ferry ride is something of an outing in itself — cabins are available for those wanting a sleep, while there are two restaurants — one self-service, and one à la carte, specialising in Tasmanian food. Throw in bars, a gaming room, a children's play area and even a cinema, and boredom is hardly likely to enter the equation...". To see the article in full click on this link.
